Lake Macatawa Invitational

Summary

Saturday, April 9:

Nine Midwest teams arrived early at Macatawa Bay Yacht Club for the Lake Macatawa Invite Regatta. Setting up boats was a bit of a struggle, as many halyards and other lines were frozen in ice in the boats. Macatawa Bay Junior Sailing Association Director Cappy Capper began the day with advice on pre-regatta planning and a chalk talk for all the teams. The first A race began at 1030. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day, even though temperatures did not rise above 35 degrees F. Wind was approximately 8-15 knots throughout the day, coming out of the east in the morning and shifting to the left as the sun came up. Two full rotations were completed. Cappy, along with Olympic sailing coach Juan Pablo Del Solar Goldsmith, ended the day with a debrief of the day's races. All teams involved learned much from this clinic and had a great time sailing in the chilly Midwest!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
