The 15 teams that came to the Eckerd Interconference were greeted with temperatures in the low 70s, partially cloudy skies and a great afternoon forecast of wind. Unfortunately the morning wind was not so great. One A race was completed before the wind became extremely light and unstable. Several races were attempted but abandoned when the wind dropped below an acceptable level. Eventually the wind switched from the morning northeast breeze to the usual northwest wind in the afternoon. 7 more A races and 6 total B races were completed in this wind. As to be expected the northwest wind slowly picked up and slowly moved to the right throughout the day. While the Gulf of Mexico was seeing wind peaking at 16 knots, sailors in Eckerd's Boca Ciega Bay received more sheltered wind ranging anywhere from 8-13 knots. Racing resumes with 7B tomorrow.
On Sunday competitors arrived to slightly cooler temperatures and a brisk northeast wind. Gusts were around 15 knots with the average being around 12 knots. Racing moved at a steady pace throughout the day with W4s and W5s for each division. Later in the afternoon the breeze began to taper. The racing became less about hiking and even more about looking for pressure. Some teams felt that they had had enough racing so they left early in the afternoon. Around 2:15 race 12B was started but was abandoned due to the lack of wind and the incoming sea breeze. The RC quickly moved the course to align with the new northwest wind. A final W4 was started at around 2:50. Congrats to the Jacksonville Dolphins for winning the event and thanks to all the teams for making the trek to Eckerd for a fun weekend of racing.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
