A light and shifty greeted the eight teams at MIT while Harvard's Wood trophy was already underway with an early start. After one or two flights the wind veered to a steady WSW (parallel to the river) at 10-15 gusting 20. One round-robin was completed and another was nearly complete by 4:30. Two protests were heard and disallowed. Thanks to BU coach Cam Fraser for hearing a protest. Big thanks to Tufts sailors Logan Russell, Alexa Ornstein and Jack Duncan for manning the finish boat.
Much different conditions were present on Sunday. The mean direction was NNW but shifts ranged from NW to NNE with 1-12 knots velocity.
The second round-robin was completed followed by two consolation races for Mass Maritime and Salve Regina with the Buccaneers taking both.
A final round-robin of the top six teams began at 1pm and was completed by 2:45 in a very variable breeze. Tufts hung on for the win despite losing the last two races to Roger Williams and MIT. Many thanks to Tyler Paige and Bubakar Paige in the finish boat and to the entire MIT program for allowing Tufts to host at their site while Tufts awaits delivery of 24 Whitecap Composite Turbo Larks. A total of 73 races were held in MIT's 18 FJs. PRO: Ken Legler
