The regatta was held on the Toms River at Toms River Yacht Club in 420's. A fleet sailed boats 1-9 and B fleet sailed boat 10-18. After the skippers meeting the regatta committee led by former OCC alumni Jamie Wasco attempted to begin the regatta. With the winds building out of the west from 20-30 mph. A fleet started and then immediately B fleet. Before the end of the first race six boats were capsized at the same time. With three safety boats on the river it was time to abandon the first race, head back to TRYC and wait and see it things lightened up. By 11:30 the winds became steady out of the west at a solid 18-with puffs at 23. The regatta began at 11:30 and the teams managed the winds. All 18 races were sailed on a windward leeward course finishing at the committee boat. At a meeting at the end of the regatta if was agreed by all teams it was best to make it a one day regatta since the rotation had been sailed and light winds of 0- 3 were predicted for Sunday. Everyone had a great day of sailing. Thanks go to the Ocean County College team for their excellent race management and patrol. No protest were filed. Congratulations to the University of Buffalo and Villanova University on tying for first place. The University of Buffalo won on a tie breaker. The regatta came down to the last B race with Villanova leading by one point. Very exciting finish.
