NEISA sailors met at the Salve Regina University Sailing Center in Newport, Rhode Island at 0930 hours and a competitor's meeting was held at 0945 hours. First race started at 1026 hours in a 5-8 knot SSW. Breeze shifted West and built throughout the day from 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 24 knots. Temperatures were around 50 degrees today. Racing was called at 5:30 PM and 8 races were completed in both A & B Divisions. There were two breakdowns that were approved by Race Committee for USCGA. There were also 2 protests and 2 redresses filed and will be heard on Sunday morning.

NEISA teams arrived Sunday morning at 0930 hours with temperatures around 30 degrees and a wind chill of 19 degrees. Wind conditions were a steady 15-18 knots out of North/Northwest with gusts up to 20-25 knots with choppy Narragansett Bay conditions. The water temperature for Narragansett Bay was currently 37 degrees. The coaches and team representatives met at 0945 hours to discuss sailing and weather conditions. All teams were in agreement to cancel racing for the day due to the extreme weather conditions.
A total of 8 races were completed in both A and B Divisions for entire weekend. Saturday's protests were heard by the Jury on Sunday morning and the 2 protests resulted in a DSQ for Salve Regina Univ. and Boston College. A big thanks goes out to our Seahawk sailors for helping out with running dock/land operations and for helping assistant coach, Michael Komar, and Salve alumni, Kyle Carney '13, with the Race Committee. A congratulations goes out to Boston College 'Eagles' on their victory finishing with 77 points!
