The competitors arrived Saturday morning to extreme cold temperatures and a no wind. Racing started at 11:30 with 5-10 from the SSE. Throughout the day the temperatures rose slightly and the wind increased to 8-15 from the SW. Racing was competitive and I think everyone was glad to finally get sailing after a long winter. Racing ended around 3:00 after completing a single round robin.
Several protests were heard by John Moulthrop, thank you. Thank you also to the team of Coast Guard Bears that together, ran the event. They persevered hours of cold conditions, standing still to make this regatta happen. Congratulations to the Bowdoin Bears for winning the event.
Due to predicted snowfall throughout the Northeast, the Thames River Team Race was reduced to a single day regatta to ensure safer driving conditions.
