The Jeremy McIntyre Team Race is an annual Team Race held at Stanford to remember the life of Jeremy. Jeremy had a love for team racing and his team here at Stanford. He would have loved this team race, good friends coming together to do battle on the water, all while having a big smile on their faces.
Today started as if it was going to be one of those epic team race days where the starting box never stops. But after more then half of the first round was complete a little rain squall came in and played with our wind direction and velocity. After a short wait the start box was on again and we were racing! As the sun came out and the ebb tide started the breeze softened till we were left with beautiful CA sunshine but no breeze. After a little bit of a wait on shore the breeze filled in again and we were able to finish round 1 and get 11 races off in round 2. The breeze today ranges from 15-0 kts and ranged in direction from E to SW. The vast majority of the day was great racing.
A big thank you to the Stanford sailors and to the umpires for getting racing in all day. A big thank you to Patagonia for providing the McIntyre with this years trophies to be handed out tomorrow.
The plan for tomorrow is to finish round 2 and then see where we are.
The 2014 McIntyre team race was a wet regatta but a productive one. Two full round robins were sailed and two tie break sail-offs were completed. The conditions sunday were similar to Saturday with breeze ranging from 5-12kts. with the breeze moving from south to west by the end of racing. The wind shifts slowed down the rotation a bit and we were only able to finish round 2 on day 2. A big thank you to Sequoia YC for hosting a great dinner on saturday night and a big thank you to Charlie Arms and her Umpire crew of Viki Sodoro, Katie Maxim, John Christman, Mike Gross, Paul Zuppon, and Brant Baldwin. They were short handed but kept up with the pace and never slowed down racing. These were the hardest working umpires in the business.
