18 teams showed up in the rain for the 2014 NE Dinghy Championship for the Coast Guard Bowl. Racing began at 1030 in Short Beach Cove in a 5-10 knot northeasterly. 4 races in A Division and 3 races in B Division were completed before the wind become to unstable and light to race. After lunch both divisions were sent back out in a building northerly. One B Division race was started but abandon at the first weather mark. After a short wait and some course jockeying race 4A was completed. After the finish the wind decided to completely die. Everyone waited on the water and eventually a 10-15 knot ESE breeze filled and we sailed until races 8A and 7B. Race 8B was attempted but was called back due to a general recall then the fleet was sent in due to lateness and a pending thunderstorm. There was one protest which was disallowed. There were also multiple yellow flag rule 42 infringements at a few starts. There was one course W5, the rest were W4's. Tomorrow morning at 8:30am there will be a redress hearing on race 4B. All interested parties are invited to attend. Many thanks to Connecticut College and the US Coast Guard Academy for loaning much needed coach and event boats as well as other gear. Also Thanks to Cam Cullman, Kerri Sullivan and Mike Yanagisawa for judging.
6 Races in A Division and 7 races in B Division were sailed today in a very shifty Northwesterly. The four races in each division before lunch were sailed in the cove with winds from 5-15 knots. After lunch and a few more races inside the cove the wind became very unstable therefore the course was moved just outside the cove where each division sailed one more race in 10-15+ knots. 14 races were completed in both divisions. Congratulations to the Yale Bulldogs for winning the Coast Guard Bowl for the first time since 1981! And congratulations to Yale, Dartmouth, Boston College, Coast Guard, Brown, Tufts, Bowdoin, Connecticut College and Harvard for moving on to the National Semi Finals at St Mary's College of MD, St. Mary's City, MD. After racing the NEISA Awards were supplemented with great Helly Hansen swag.
And Thanks to The Coast Guard Academy and Connecticut College for loaning boats for the event. Also many thanks to Mike O'Connor for being a great NEISA rep and to our judging team of Cam Cullman, Kerry Sullivan and Mike Yanagisawa! And Thanks to the Yale undergrads for doing a great job behind the scene!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
