Saturday morning there was a dying Northerly that completely shut off just as the boats were leaving the basin for race one. The fleets were sent back in for what turned out to be an early lunch break. The breeze filled back in from the NW, which was very unstable. The first race got off at 12:30 where five A Division races were sailed and four B-Division races. The breeze was anywhere from N/NW/WNW with constant velocity changes. The breeze once again died completely.
After waiting for about 50 minutes a new course was set in a promising SSW ranging from 5-12knots. Two more A-Division and three B-Division races were competed to end the day.
A-Division sailed FJ's and B Division sailed 420's. The Divisions will switch fleets tomorrow morning. All courses were W-4 with the finishing pin to starboard of the race committee boat.
A special thanks to LT Jon Duffett who served as PRO, Cadet Brad Brown on leading the race committee boat and the the team of cadets who helped on and off the water.
Also, thanks to John Mooney and Tripp Alyn for judging on the water all day. Two protests were filed resulting in DSQ's for Harvard and MIT in race 6A.
Sunday morning began with what looked like a promising SW breeze. Race 8A was started and midway up the second beat the wind went hard right and the race was abandoned at the second windward mark.
After re-grouping, the RC sailed 3 races in each division in a very challenging WNW that did not want to settle in at all. After a short lunch break, the fleet went back out to a fairly "solid" Northwesterly with velocity ranging from 5-18. Four more races were sailed in each division. Courses were all W-4’s and one W-5.
There was one request for redress which was denied. Thanks to John Mooney for being here all weekend on the water.
