Competitors arrived to the Robert Crown Center this morning to lovely conditions on the Severn River. Racing began at 1000 just off of the Navy sea wall in a 10-12 knot Northwesterly. Three races were completed in the morning on a W4 course before a lunch break was taken for both divisions at 1145. Racing resumed after lunch, at 1230, in a freshining breeze, with puffs into the high teens at times, making some of the racing quite gamey. Twelve races were completed in both A and B divisions before sailing was called for the day at 1730. Two protests were filed, resulting in a DSQ in race 12 B and another DSQ in Race 11A.
A huge thank you to PRO Marissa Lihan (USNA '14) and her squad of more than capable Midshipmen for running races. Another huge pat on the back to the volunteer judges Justin Assad, Brian Swingly, Bern Noack, and John Ingalls for hearing protests after sailing.
Sunday of the Owen saw slightly more unfavorable conditions in comparison to the day prior. Sailors arrived to the Robert Crown Center to a light Northerly breeze and grey skies. The fleets were sent out onto the Severn River at 0930 and one race in each division was completed just off of the Navy sea wall before sailing became highly undesirable and the teams were relocated to Annapolis Harbor just off of Triton Light. Once in the Harbor, 5 more races were completed in each division before racing was called for the day at 1430. All races were W4s and no protests were filed, however Columbia called it a day and packed up just before noon.
Another large thanks to PRO Marissa Lihan (USNA '14) for running races with her teammates today in challenging conditions. Congratulations to the Yale Elis for winning the 2013 Owen Trophy.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
