Sunny, breezy and cold spring conditions greeted competitors on the Thames River in New London for the Kruger Kup. The conditions provided exciting racing to start the day; spinnakers were disallowed for the first race. Five races were completed before lunch in close competition in a steady North wind 12 gusting to 20 and increasing ebbing current. Three races were completed after lunch in a waning North wind 5-10 gusting to 12. Eight races were completed for the day. Racing continues tomorrow.
Sunny and warmer conditions greeted competitors for day two of the Kruger Kup. A Southerly sea breeze 8-10 knots gusting to 13 filled before the first warning. The fleet remained close as competitors pushed the line hard resulting in several general recalls. Thank you to Maine Maritime and Mitchell College coaches for hearing protests. Additional thank you to the cadets of the Coast Guard Offshore team for running races and assisting with breakdowns. Congratulations to the Tufts University Jumbos for winning the Kruger Kup.
