Saturday was sunny and cool at around 60 degrees. We began sailing at 9:00 AM and continued until 4:00 PM. We were able to sail 14 races, we stopped after the 14th race and did not go into B fleet because of heavy winds in the afternoon. We sailed windward-leewards twice around with an open gate all day and our races ran about 15 minutes each.
In the morning the wind was out of the west at about 14 knots, but towards the end of the day it got windier, up to 20 knots, and the gusts were up to 26 knots. Many boats capsized, especially in the last two races, but there were no serious problems, injuries, or damages to the boats. However, some boats were forced to take a DNF in races that they capsized in because it was difficult to right the boats in the wind and boats often got their masts stuck in the mud because of the shallow water.
In the 3rd race of A fleet, Syracuse's skipper filed a breakdown report because their starboard side hiking strap snapped during the race. Their report was accepted and they were given their average score for that race.
The races went well, but following the 13th and 14th races when there were a number of capsizes, we decided to call it for the day.
Sunday brought much of the same weather-wise, more sun and around 60 degrees. We started at around 10:30 with B-fleet because we had to stop on Saturday after A-fleet due to high winds. We then raced A-fleet and B-fleet once more for a total of 6 races sailed on Sunday.
The wind was extremely shifty and often very light, hovering around only 3 or 4 knots, but it occasionally picked up and we were able to get our races off. The day began with a north wind, but during race 9B we experienced two 180 degree wind shifts within 10 minutes of each other. The course was adjusted several times, but it was difficult to keep up with the rapidly changing wind.
We sailed windward-leewards twice around with an open gate all day, except for the final race which we shortened to a once around due to the long length of time that it was taking to complete races in the very light wind.
Overall, it was a successful regatta and we were able to complete a total of 20 races. Thanks to OCC, Drexel, Syracuse, University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland, and Rutgers for attending. Special thanks to all of our sailors who came out this weekend and helped us run the regatta and to the members of North East River Yacht Club for being so accommodating. Finally, we would like to congratulate Ocean County College on winning the regatta with a total of 59 points.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
