Upon arrival Saturday morning there was dense fog that began to lift during the competitors meeting. Both fleets were sent out in what became a dying Southerly. After a brief wait the breeze filled back in again from the South at 4-8 knots. Six W-4’s were sailed with offset and leeward gates. After a short lunch break, the sun came out and the breeze filled in for a while to 8-12 before dying down toward the end of the day. A and B-Divisions sailed races 1-10 in FJ’s and 420’s respectively. After race ten the divisions switched fleets on the water and two more races were sailed to complete the day. There was one request for redress that was denied and two protests resulting in two dsq’s.
Thanks to Tripp Alyn and Mike Lavesque for being on the water all day in addition to monitoring rule 42. In addition, thanks to Coast Guard Assistant Offshore Coach, Jason LeBlanc for serving as PRO
Sunday morning brought a light Northerly with a slight ebb that increased throughout the day. The breeze increased to 8-12 knots and the three remaining sets were sailed before the monsoon arrived and killed the breeze. All courses were W-4 with an offset and leeward gates. There were no protests or breakdowns filed but there were many penalty turns completed on the course.
Thanks to Trip Alyn, Mike Levesque and John Mooney for being on the water all day. Also, thanks to Coast Guard Academy Assistant Offshore Coach Jason LeBlanc who served as PRO and the Coast Guard sailors for race management.
Congratulations to the Yale Bulldogs for winning the 2012 Thompson Trophy!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
