Saturday sailors were greeted to slightly overcast skies and 7-9 kts of breeze. Six races were completed just off the Long Beach pier alongside the Ficker Cup Match Race Finals. Upon returning to shore teams were hosted to burgers and dogs grilled by the USC Sailing Team members in the boat park.
Sunday arrived with ominous grey skies and big breeze from the south. After a short skippers meeting there was a unanimous decision to shift the race course to inside Alamitos Bay and rotate off the beach. Winds averaged 15 kts with gusts over 20 and several teams struggled to stay upright. The Laser Midwinters West fleet saw our sailors beating around the bay and decided that they needed to go out and finish their regatta (looking at thew pictures it seems like that might not have been the best idea).
Congratulations to Stanford for winning the South Designate and see everyone at the St. Francis Invite next weekend!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
