North Spring Qualifier

Summary

Saturday, April 2:

Saturday's conditions started out with a wind delay until 11AM when the breeze began to fill from the NW. The breeze steadily built from there on from 15-20mph, and one significant gust in race 6B of 25mph knocking over most of the fleet. The team of Big Red sailors did a great job running the races as the breeze shifted from the N to the W and back to the N throughout the day. Racing was called at 4:15PM due to the high winds and multiple breakdowns. In all 6A and 6B races were held. Two protests were filed resulting in one DSQ for Buffalo, and one redress was granted to Columbia in race 5A. Thank you to George Hock for traveling to Cornell to hear protests. As it stands Cornell Big Red lead the event by 6 points over Queens.

Sunday, April 3:

Sunday brought great sailing conditions from the N at 9-14mph for the entire day. Without having to move marks, the race committee was able to continuously run races and complete the rotation by 3:15PM. In total 14A and 14B races were sailed. Thank you to the Cornell Sailing Team members for running great races, scoring, and facilitating the rotation on land. And once again thank you to George Hock for traveling to Cornell to hear protests.

Congratulations to Cornell, Columbia, and Queen's for qualifying for the America Trophy hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland in two weeks, April 16-17.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
