Racing began in an ESE wind at 5-8 knots with a building ebb tide. Four races were completed using course 4's and 5's; the Cooper River Gold Cup and Triangle Windward Leeward configurations. The tide began ebbing hard and sailors went in for a short lunch break. After lunch the wind shifted to the SSE and 8 more races were sailed using course 4's, 5's, and one course 3; windward leeward's with offsets and gates. A and B division sailed in one fleet of 18 boats. We had no breakdowns and one protest was filed and disallowed.
Sailors were greeted on Sunday morning by air temps in the low 60's and storms on the horizon. Sailing was postponed ashore while a small rain system passed. Sailors took to the water for a 10:00 start for race # 13. Race 13 was W4 and race 14 a W5, both with offsets and gates. The wind as blowing from the south at 12-15 knots, with an increasing ebb tide. Sailors returned to shore after race 14 with storms to the west. After a short postponement ashore, the storms broke up and sailors returned to the racing area. The wind increased to 18-22 knots and the ebb tide created some steep chop in the Cooper River. Race 15 was a course W4. With a significant amount of carnage in race 15, sailors returned to shore on last time. With 15 races sailed, no sign of the wind lying down, and the ebb tide on the increase; racing was called for the day. One redress was heard and granted. We had no protests or breakdowns. Thanks to Bill Healy, Charles Higgins, and Alana O'Reilly for hearing a protest and a redress. Thanks to all of the Charleston undergrads that helped run a great event. Congratulations to the Hoyas for winning the 2011 Charleston Women's.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
