NWICSA Women's Quals
Saturday: Races got underway just before 11am on Saturday in a stiff SSE breeze of 14-17 knots. There was plenty of chop and current to contest with on the modified windward/leeward course. The breeze backed off and settled in around 8-9 knots out of the south as the afternoon progressed. By the last set of the day the bay built back up to 14-16 knots, delivering some great sailing conditions. We finished 18 races the first day and were not off the water until after 6pm. It was a long day for all, but with the light forecast for Sunday the race committee pushed for as many races as possible. Races were running about 17 minutes for most of the day, with the exception that the last set was running about 15 minutes in length. One protest was filed by Lewis and Clark, which resulted in the disqualification of Portland State for tacking too close in race 7B.
Sunday: Light winds out of the south greeted the sailors on Sunday. A race was attempted just before 11am, but was soon abandoned due to the lack of wind. Sailors were postponed on the water until the breeze filled in and the course could be adjusted. Racing resumed around noon in a 4-5 knot SW'erly. The breeze continued to oscillate back and forth, forcing the course to be reset quite frequently in the first couple of races. All six races were finished by 2pm to conclude the double round robin. It was certainly a weekend that threw a bit of everything at the competitors.
Big thanks go out to OSU alumni Chris and Jess for doing race committee, the Bellingham Yacht Club especially Terry and Steve, and all those WWU team members who came to help out with the event and keep it running smoothly. I think a good time was had by all. Great job to all those who participated this year, and good luck to the UW women at nationals!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
