Women's Regatta at KP Invite

Summary

Saturday, September 6:

Great day of sailing here at Kings Point with the KP Women's, KP Open, and Laser North to kick off the season. Things got started on time in a light southerly that built throughout the day to the point of white capping and gusting deep into the teens. Race Committee staff did a remarkable job keeping things moving efficiently, and as a result 8 races in each division were completed by 2:30PM. At that point, RC made the call to wrap it up for the day given incoming thunderstorms.

Penn and Cornell did a bit of lighting up the scoreboard on day 1 and as a result are 1-2 in Women's and 1-2-3 in Open. Nico Garcia-Castrillon from Hobart leads the Laser fleet but a request for redress that is to be heard tomorrow morning has the potential to shake things up at the top of the Laser leaderboard.

Sunday, September 7:

Day 2 of the season opener at KP started off with virtually no wind and that ended up never changing much throughout the day. By 1130, the decision was made to pack it in and get on the road.

Many thanks to PRO TJ Shea, who did an exceptionally good job keeping things fair and moving. Many thanks as well to Race Committee volunteers John Ryan & Joel Marsh, the KP Waterfront Staff, and the many KP midshipmen who worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure an excellent regatta experience for all.

We look forward to seeing some of these teams and some others back here in two weeks for MAISA Top 9.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
