Sodus Bay Open

Summary

Saturday, September 27:

The teams arrived on time with a light breeze at their backs. After a few races, a clear top four emerged. Cornell, Queen’s, Penn State, and RIT battled throughout the day for first place, with Cornell taking the early lead. The fleet navigated continuous shifts as the breeze clocked back and forth through each race, ending the day with six races per fleet.

Sunday, September 28:

After a minor delay getting on the water, the fleet finally got a taste of proper wind. The top four began to solidify their leads, setting up a tight contest. Midday, Tigers 2 suffered a breakdown, removing the boat and team from the rotation. The remaining races ran smoothly, with Queen’s and Cornell trading blows for the top spot. By the end of the afternoon, less than three points separated them, with Queens taking first place.

Thank you to SBJSA, SBYC, and alumni for all your help over the weekend to make the Sodus Bay Open run smoothly!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
