The afternoon start for the men's ILCA 7 sailed with blue sky and scattered cumulus inland, wind for race 1 at 13.1 kts from ESE building to 17.5 kts by the last two races. The average wind direction was quite steady, requiring no changes to the course axis, however the entire regatta was defined by an oscillating shift to both sides of the axis. Careful attention to phase was required of the sailors. Established waves good for surfing and downwind technical sailing were a feature of the regatta. Seven close races were sailed with the competitors staying grouped together at mark roundings and frequent lead changes. The second downwind leg to the finish was usually the decisive run that determined the winner each race.
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
