It was another beautiful day on the St. Johns river for day 1 of the SAISA Fall Open Fleet Race Champs. Sailors took to the water for a first start just after 1:00 in 10-12 knots out of the Northeast with lumpy chop. By the second set the wind had increased to 12-15 and so did the sea-state. By B-Divisions second set the wind had built to 15-18 with gusts over 20. Racing was stalled with several breakdowns throughout the afternoon mostly due to universals that were only 6 months old. 6 races were sailed in A and 4 in B. Racing finished for the day at 6:15. Special thanks to the Florida Yacht Club for providing such a beautiful venue to compete at and PROs Matt King and Shaynah True for their dedicated race work. Thank you Dermatone Sunscreen for taking care of our skin in the Florida sunshine!
Sunday marked the end of the 3-day SAISA Conference Champs. The day started with a light 5-8 knots from due-north with small shifts and chop. The breeze fluctuated and became unstable then in race 8A the wind shifted 90 degrees to the right on the last leg causing a challenging finish with just 100 yards to go. For the second half of the day the wind increased at times gusting to 20 knots. Sailors had to battle large fluctuations in pressure changes as low as 6 with 20-degree shifts. Massive thanks to the Florida Yacht club members and staff for the beautiful sailing venue. The all-volunteer Race Committee crew of Matt King, Shaynah True and Andrew Fay ran races equal to any professional crew and were able to squeeze in 11 races in each division. Thanks to regatta organizers, Kayla Putzke and Kaitly Liebel, who made sure everything ran smoothly coordinated a team of 47 JU sailors to assist competitors with rigging, launching, regatta management, breakdowns and rotations. Congrats to the College of Charleston for winning back-to-back women's and open championships! Special thanks to Dermatone Sunscreen for protecting every athlete's skin in the Florida Sunshine!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
