Peak Foliage

Summary

Saturday, October 11:

First and foremost a hearty thank you to UVM for hosting the Peak Foliage today. UNHs lake is 26 feet lower than normal as the dam is being repaired. Fingers crossed we will have copious rain and snow this winter so the lake levels rise again by next summer.

Champaign conditions today on Burlington Bay gave CD sailors a 15-18 knot south southwesterly. Oscillations were abound however, no persistent shifts. The left and middle left paid off all day. One General Recall and the I flag stayed up all day. The breeze softened up around four pm and the lump that remained was just enough to grind down the boat speed. Eight races were sailed with the A team from Salve dominating the day, with seven bullets. Several capsizes, and a few other challenges however sailors did a stellar job in the conditions, with some surfing happening. No protests were filed and the RC boat was pleased to see so many boats spinning when they fouled. One Reece’s race was held with Salve claiming the prize, for a welcome midday treat.

Thanks to Coach Brittany Manning from Salve for being the ICSA/NEISA rep and a super thanks to William and Josh for helping the RC score and learn Techscore.

Congratulations to Salve for the win with just 48 points. Their nearest competitors were 32 points behind them.

Pictures galore were shot at the windward mark and elsewhere. Go to alanoulette.photography and look under Sailing. Alan hopes to have today’s pictures up later this evening or tomorrow. Go back there often and send your pan rest the link so you can show off your sailing convincing your parents that you are spending your time wisely.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
