Beautiful day on the St. Mary's River with the homecoming Hawktoberfest weekend. Lots of action at the Teddy Turner Waterfront and James P. Muldoon River Center with food vendors, axe throwing, pumpkin painting, river cruises on a tour boat, petting zoo (most popular was the fluffy miniature Highland cow) and of course--the annual Great Bamboo Boat Race with some serious prize money on the line. The point being. . . the ACT Finals had a lot of spectators!
After a short shore postponement, PRO Owen Hennessey ran 7A/6B in Southerly breezes that shifted East before getting to light. Races were W-4's and W-3's. A couple protests were heard by Chief Judge Thomas Walker with Dexter Mueller. Mike Callahan served as ICSA Rep and graciously stepped in to help hear one protest as well.
The weather was absolutely perfect for racing with SE breezes that started at 8 knots and built steadily to 15 to finish up the ACT. Several protests lodged on the water that never came to fruition aside from a jury protest for touching a mark that was upheld. Georgetown separated themselves from the rest to win the ACT. Big thanks to the Seahawks who ran a beautiful event!
