Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals

Summary

Saturday, October 18:

The first day of the Atlantic Coast Championship Finals started out with a delay as we waited for wind. After a few hours a light SSE breeze filled in and racing began off Triton Point. A Divisions raced 420s on Saturday and B division was in FJs. The wind built for the second set to around 10 knots, but dropped back down to around 5 knots during the third set with significant chop. Due to the deteriorating conditions, racing was called for the day after race 6. Two protests and one breakdown request were heard, resulting in a BKD awarded in race 5B and a DSQ in race 6B. The divisions will switch fleets for Sunday's racing.

Sunday, October 19:

Sunday was a great day on the Severn River. We started out off Triton Point on time with an 8-12 knot southerly breeze, which shifted left late in the morning and built throughout the afternoon. By the last set, the fleet was sailing in a steady 15-20 knots with higher gusts and 2 foot waves. A huge thanks to PRO Parker Loftus with help from Jimmy Madigan and the Midshipman RC team for running quality races all weekend. Thanks as well to judges Nora Ong and Jed Bell and to Pete Fanta who served as ICSA Rep and Protest Committee member. Two protest and one breakdown request were heard today resulting in a DSQ in race 9A and a BKD in race 13A. Congratulations to the Harvard Crimson for winning the 2025 Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
