NY Maritime Fall Open

Summary

Saturday, September 27:

Day 1 was a battle for breeze. We attempted our first race at 10:30am after a short postponement then abandoned as breeze died out. Postponed ashore until 1:00pm when we got three A races and two B races completed. When the NNE fill was there it averaged about 4-6knots. Breeze died out again as it battled the southerly sea breeze at 3:45pm and we called the day at 4:00pm. Current largely tracked W>E today but swapped around for the final A race. The Maritime Society's Monomoy Races were running today as well, so there was plenty of entertainment during the postponements!

Sunday, September 28:

An early morning light southerly switched to a decent SW breeze averaging 5-7knts until it died fighting the afternoon sea breeze. Big kudos to all the teams working through the current as Race Committee executed quick course adjustments and ran competitive races in the conditions that were present. Three protests were heard today, one thrown out, two resulting in DSQs. Well done to Coast Guard for winning the NY Maritime Fall Open, thank you to everyone for coming out to the Bronx for the weekend! Big shoutout to our awesome Race Committee, Mark Boats, Shore Crew, Scoring, and ICSA Rep (WAC Coach, Evan) for making this a great weekend even in trying conditions.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
