Northeast Qualifier #1

Summary

Sunday, September 7:

As luck would have it, after several weeks of almost no precipitation and mild weather, teams arrived to a rainy and cool Port Jefferson. The regatta was run Sunday only in order to avoid conflicting with the PJYC Village Cup regatta the day before. The rain held on for most of the day, gradually decreasing in intensity. The wind was light all day, averaging 4-7 knots, and started NE with a gradual shift west. The wind was up and down for the first A set, but became more consistent for the rest of the day. We did 3 races in each division and decided to go for 2 more in each division in order to come in under our 3pm time limit, ultimately finishing 5 races per division. Overall, the racing was very tight and competitive. Congratulations to SUNY Maritime for the win!

Thank you to all the visiting teams for making the trip and to all of the SBU sailors for their help in running the event. Particular thank you to recent alum Mackie Myers-Aldous'25 for volunteering her day to be RC and running 10 great races! Thank you to James Gilmore'19 for all of his help as well.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
