NEISA Fall Tournament

Summary

Saturday, October 25:

Saturday racing at historic Arnold's Bay began with an hour-long delay for low wind. Conditions were glassy on Lake Champlain, with similarly forecasted through the day. But, by 12:30, the wind began to shift to the north and build so that by 1:30 the competitors were heading out into 5kts, building to above 10 at times, through the afternoon. Williams no-showed, and so the fleet sailed combined with all twelve boats on what turned out to be an excellent day of sailing. 6 races were completed before the wind became shifty and began to die around 4:30pm. No protests were submitted before the 20min deadline.

Much thanks to Lisa Downey and Jared Reineck for help on the Race Committee, and to the enthusiastic Middlebury crew on the mark boat. Looking forward to more beautiful fall racing tomorrow!

Sunday, October 26:

Sunday's weather mirrored Saturday's with another lovely fall day on Lake Champlain. Light and variable winds from the south finally shifted into moderate northerly winds by 12:30pm, allowing the fleet to complete an additional 4 races before 3pm. Mass Maritime sailed very well into the winning position, while Middlebury and Bentley duelled for second and third. Only in a very close final race was it decided in favor of the Panthers. A chilly capsize sent SHU B team to shore for one set and a breakdown resulted in a bye for Brandeis on the second - no protests were heard.

Congrats to the Buccaneers on the victory and to all seniors sailing their final collegiate event. Middlebury commends all attending teams for a great final competition of the season. Once again, thanks to Lisa Downey and Jared Reineck aboard the Committee Boat and to Penelope Weekes (Midd '25) for taking charge of the mark boat.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
