A tricky day on the Salt Pond. Teams arrived to the Robert P. Arrigan Sailing Pavilion to a light NE breeze at 4kts, which quickly dissipated and turned into an easterly that proved to be too inconsistent for racing. With some patience, a light but sailable SE breeze filled and held at around 5kts. All races were sailed on a W4 course, with only minor adjustments needed. The day ended around 1700, on race 6A. We look forward to more breeze tomorrow. Well done to those who prevailed in trying conditions.
For the second day of the Moody Trophy, the Salt Pond delivered with a classic southerly sea breeze. B division departed the sailing center under tow to the southern pond on time, with a quick intermission to allow the sea breeze to settle in. Race 5B commenced at 11:13 in a beautiful and very consistent 8kts. As the land heated and the breeze built, RC elected to move the course to the inner pond for more runway to start race 7A. This proved to be a beneficial move as the pond became increasingly more congested with other watercraft. Race 8A was a W5 to encourage efficient rotations. For the last set of the day, our sea breeze increased to 12kts. The Salt Pond at its best.
Throughout the entire event, good sportsmanship and high spirits were observed by all teams while competitiveness remained high. Well done to all competitors, and a special shoutout to RWU, St. Mary’s, and ODU for their podium finishes. RC would like to thank Harvard coach Mike O’Connor for being our designated ICSA representative, and our RC support team for ensuring a smooth event. We wish everyone safe travels home, and best of luck for the remainder of the fall season.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
