Courageous Ross

Summary

Saturday, September 20:

Stunning skies and a mixed light breeze greeted the 18-boat fleet for the Richard Ross competitors at Courageous Sailing Centre today. A surprise visit from Dave Curtis of HDFA Photography (https://www.instagram.com/hdfaphotography?fbclid=IwY2xjawM795NleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFWdWVWMkZ0a2l2UWlJSEFzAR4za6Lh6AbCaIUqhaG07aa2PvAuTSuco9LZnFNb0eQinieTerQd4kyMHrsKig_aem_X-b5eDvGpKAWA_dqocxbKw) made the day even more perfect. Seven races in building shifting breeze were sailed. The beginning of the day saw a light breeze with puffs, allowing the front half of the fleet to make serious gains while the back half drifted slowly, the current affecting them. The 3rd race saw a breeze coming, with the rest of the day in champagne conditions.

One Reece’s Race was held. Pizza greeted competitors after sailing as the Ross family came to speak about Richard’s start in sailing and his mission to make certain every child, regardless of background, would have an opportunity to sail. They presented awards to the top three competitors, with the Brown 3 team winning the regatta with four bullets.

Please make sure to check Dave’s picture from today, and please remember to fill out your RP forms in TechScore.

Thanks to the Ross family and Courageous Sailing Centre for hosting this regatta annually. It allows for diverse sailors to attend and compete.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
