Charles Invite

Summary

Saturday, September 6:

Initial confusion over which fleet to sail, resulting from our apparent inability to edit the regatta in Techschore to reflect that it was to be sailed in FJs after reformatting to combined divisions, gave way to a lovely early fall day of racing on the Charles. The SW wind was shifty but consistent, requiring zero course adjustments except to secure a drifting mark after race 1, with velocity starting out around 5-10kts but building throughout the day due to an incoming cold front. No protests were filed ashore, but many protest hails were audible on the racecourse with many exonerations seen. It was decided to end the regatta after race 9 when threatening skies brought gusts well into the 20s (resulting in 4 capsizes in race 9) and a tornado warning for Cambridge. Congrats to URI on an impressive victory.

Thanks to Brett Tardie '25 for driving the mark/safety boat, Mike O'Connor for being a second safety boat when things got sporty, and Diana Weidenbacker for being NEISA Rep.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
