Shields Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 14:

A beautiful day greeted sailors on the Chesapeake Bay for this year's Shield's Trophy. Ten teams competed in sunny skies, 80 degree temperature and 8-13 knot northerly/ENE winds. The race committee completed 4 races with tight racing. At the end of the day, half the fleet is still in contention for winning the regatta.

Sunday, September 15:

Fair winds and weather greeted the competitors again for day 2 of the Shields Trophy. Three races were held in challenging conditions of 6-8 knot shifting northerly breezes. The Charleston Cougars remained the most consistent team throughout the regatta to finish the regatta in first place. Big thanks go out to PRO Nelson Pemberton, Chief Judge Dan Trammel, and the many volunteers and midshipmen who made the regatta a success.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
