10 teams and 14 ILCA 6's rigged for day one of the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship, hosted by Brown University at the Edgewood Yacht Club and Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion. Unfortunately, there was not enough wind to start racing until 2:45pm when a very shifty and up and down easterly filled in. The weather was beautiful with temps around 80 degrees. The racing was difficult with some big broad shifts, current, and big velocity differences. Six races were sailed all the way up until the 6pm cutoff for the day on W4 courses.
Day two of the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship was another beautiful day but the conditions for racing were not ideal. We left shore on time for a 10:15am first warning and sailed one race in a light and shifty easterly on a W4 course. A few more races were attempted throughout the day but had to be abandoned with either the wind dying or a major shift (or both). A nice seabreeze from the south filled around 2:45pm, but not in time to get off any more racing for the women due to the 3pm cutoff time. Seven races were sailed in total for the event and there were no protests or breakdowns.
A huge thanks to everyone who made the event happen: All of the Brown sailors who helped out: Vera Allen '27, Francesca Edmands '25, Laura Hamilton '27, Corinne Harrison '27, Janelle Li '25, and Anna Steffen '25. Our great group of Judges: Chief Umpire John Mooney, Richard Feeny, Will Price, and John Pearce. Photographer Rob Migliaccio. All of the teams who brought powerboats for coaches and judges: Coast Guard, Roger Williams, URI, the Edgewood Yacht Club, and the Moses Brown School. NEISA Rep Greg Wilkinson from Boston College.
The fleet was really deep and talented and there was some terrific racing. Congratulations to Brown's Katharine Doble '26 on winning the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship for the second year in a row and receiving an automatic qualifying berth for the 2024 ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship to be held November 9-10 in St. Petersburg, FL.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
