The Charles brought sporty conditions to day 1 of the NEISA Fall Tournament. During the first set, the breeze built with gusts in the mid 20s resulting in numerous capsizes. Meanwhile, the still unsettled direction resulted in two major course adjustments, leading to two protests that resulted in one DSQ under Rule 28. After an exciting first set, the breeze settled nearly due West and only the pin needed to be adjusted for the remainder of the day. Conditions remained sporty throughout the afternoon but were more manageable with only 1-2 capsizes per set. 8 races, all W4s, were completed with A Division in FJs and B Division in z420s. One breakdown request was filed and will be heard tomorrow.
Sunday brought a steady westerly at a much more manageable velocity for a busy day on the Charles. After a quick conversation with CBI about our racing plans for the day, the Fall Tournament's course was set in a similar location to where it ended yesterday, with the start line straight off the Harvard boathouse towards the Boston side and the weather marks near the MIT boathouse, with CBI's weather marks for their huge end of season Mercury regatta just below and to starboard of Harvard's signal boat. B Division sailed FJs today and started first to give A Division, now in z420s, a few extra minutes to correct a sail mixup resulting from one of yesterday's breakdowns. With steady breeze in the teens and no major course adjustments needed, racing was efficient, with the 6 remaining races, all W4s, completed by 2pm.
Yesterday's request for breakdown was heard and disallowed, and one new protest was filed resulting in one disqualification under Rule 11.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
