MCSA Match Race Championship

Summary

Saturday, October 5:

We had a great day of racing on the Detroit River. Scott Corder, PRO, and the race committee volunteers kept things moving even as the wind required them to move the signal boat a couple of times. A solid umpire team from across the Midwest kept things fair for our sailors and let them focus on each race.

Well done to all the teams for learning the unique boats and venue - race quality went up very quickly over the course of the day. Unfortunately sunset came as we were one race shy of our planned two round robins, but we'll come back tomorrow to finish it off and hopefully get a top-four round before the wind comes on too strong.

Sunday, October 6:

Got our final RR2 race and went back to the dock for the Top Four. While on land, wind piped up beyond sailable limits. We waited an hour only to see it increase throughout the morning. No more racing today.

A huge thank you to Scott Corder, our PRO, for trying as hard as he could to get us a good course with the breeze. And thank you also to Bayview Yacht Club and all the volunteers for letting us play in one of the best match race venues in the country.

Congratulations to the University of Chicago for back-to-back Match Race Championships. Good luck at Nationals!
