The George Warren Smith Trophy 24

Summary

Saturday, September 28:

Great conditions on the Charles with 4-10 knots from the East all day. 10 races in each division with divisions switching boat type after race 6.

The George Warren Smith '26 Trophy honors a distinguished member of the MIT faculty who helped found the sailing club at MIT and volunteered countless hours of weekend time over the course of 30 years. George and Dean of Students Emily Wick were foundational supporters of intercollegiate sailing as well as sailboat racing in Rockport, Mass. Today each team benefits from their core volunteers who perform assistant coaching, scoring, judging and other tasks which support today's competitors and the spirit of a well hosted event.

Congratulations to the Tufts Jumbos who took the lead in race 7 and held it to the end over MIT and BC2 and BC1.

Thanks to RC helpers Jeremy Fraser, Christopher Nolfi, and MIT dockmaster Dan Tucker. Matt Lindblad, Cucchiaro Family Director of Sailing.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
