Glass greeted the sailors on Saturday. Gusts of 1-5 knots rolled in and promptly out, leaving just a few ripples. After some fits and starts, a small SW became steady across the course. The RC was able to start Race 1 A. It shifted to WSW midway through the first beat. Luckily, just enough breeze carried the fleet around the course to the finish just to then abandon everyone. The day was called around 3:00 pm, and teams went home for the day.
A special thanks to Chris Loder for reminding us about passion, purposefully getting in there, and the lesson around giving something up and then seeing the effect of that gift. Chris took pictures (thanks, Joey, for driving him), and they will be posted on the UNH Flickr account as soon as possible.
Thanks to Devyn (current sailor) for helping with the RC boat and Devon and Amelia (current sailors) for moving marks.
Tomorrow’s wind looks promising, and we will try and get in as many races as possible.
Personalized Lattes, served and made by Chris Loder and Wildcats Muffins, greeted sailors with whisps of a westerly, which hinted at consolidating into something sailable. It finally settled into a WSW breeze and oscillated throughout the day, sometimes by 90 degrees in the same race. Finally, it built to a nice 8-10 out of the west, allowing a fourth race for each division. Thanks to all the sailors for their patience. Two Resse races were held, Salve winning them both.
There was one redress for broken universal and two protests, resulting in DSQs for three teams. Thanks to the judges from Bentley and Salve for hearing and assisting with the protests.
Thanks to Devyn (current sailor) for assisting again on the RC boat and Scott and Joey (current sailors) for driving Chris Loder around today and shooting almost as many pictures as Chris. Sonja and Amelia (current sailors) managed the Mark boat and were kept busy all afternoon.
Congratulations to Salve for handily winning the 2024 Chris Loder Trophy and to the UNH Wildcats 1 team for second place.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
