The 2nd annual SAISA North Top 6 Invite today was hosted by The Citadel and sailed out of CofC's Stuart Walker Sailing Center in Mt. Pleasant. We flipped a coin on whether the combined divisions would sail FJs or 420s and the coin landed on FJs, so that's what the competitors ended up sailing today.
We opted to race on Crab bank in a pleasant, but extremely shifty, 4-7 knot ENE breeze to start the day that shifted consistently right overall every 1-2 races until settling ESE by the end of racing. Current was ebbing hard all day causing several general recalls and two "I" Flag starts. We saw some wind shifts of over 25°, but the breeze always squared back up (not causing any races to be abandoned). CofC's future is bright with their top freshman team taking 1st & 2nd in every race except one (2nd place taken by Clemson's A Division in race 8). Clemson took a convincing 2nd place overall and The Citadel rounded out the podium in 3rd.
Thank you to CofC for allowing us to host out of their fantastic venue and a major thank you to Annabel Carrington for helping with race management and constantly repositioning our windward mark/offset in the trying conditions, along with the occasional starting line adjustment.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
