We had a great Melges 24 Racing Event at LLSC with the collegiate sailors crewing on our local Melges 24 sport boats. The breeze was a bit slow filling in, but by 1.30pm we had 8-10 knots from the SW which made for some very tight racing between the college teams. We run 5 Windward - Leeward races, the collegiate crews were all very close through out the event. USF secured a solid first place with 5 bullets, NC state finished in 2nd place with 13 points, FT close behind with 16 points, CofC and GT finishing in 4th and 5th place respectively.
All the crews had a great time and were very impressed with the performance and handling of the Melges 24. The teams requested a repeat event early next year ( stay tuned ) and were sure sign up for our Collegiate / Associate USMCA class membership.
