SAISA's Fall 2v2 Team Race kicked off this morning with cloudy skies and a stable 8-12 knot westerly. Jacksonville, USF, and Rollins each fielded two teams for two round-robins. The first round consisted of rather tight racing moving up the last beat where the final passbacks were put on full display. The Jacksonville Fins finished the first round with a strong 5-0 record, edging out the USF Bulls on a head to head win. Round 2 was similar to the previous with great boat on boat action in the pre-start and condensed racing up to the finish.
Although no team went undefeated in the second round, the Jacksonville Fins sat atop the podium at the end of the day with an impressive 9-1 record. USF Bulls and Bulls Women rounded out the podium with 7-3 and 6-4 records, respectively. The home teams, Gold and Blue, each put up wins throughout the day and showed their grit battling in close races through the finish.
No breakdowns or protests were filed throughout the regatta.
Special thanks to PRO Scott Marriott for running efficient and fair racing all day and to our SGA for their support. Thanks to all the Tars that were supporting from the sidelines and assisting with regatta management.
