Racing commenced in a SW sea breeze of 6-8 kts at 12:30. Bowdoin won the first race, and Maine Maritime won the second and third races. The breeze built throughout the afternoon, and the 4th and final race was sailed with 12-14 kts of breeze and 3 foot bay chop. The Mariners were over early, and had use some excellent downwind sailing to get back to third place, while the Polar Bears simply sailed away from the fleet with their superior upwind speed. Bowdoin in first by 1 point at the end of the day. MMA second; Tufts third.
Sunday’s racing was held in a very light westerly that backed to the Southwest and strengthened to 4 knots. The first race was a sprint as the wind moved to the left and the boats made short work of the windward leg on port tack. Bowdoin led the parade with MMA close behind. The final race was an hour long and the Polar Bears won it decisively. Bowdoin, MMA, and Tufts qualify for NEISA Match Race Championships.
