On a day when the wind lulled, gusted and came from every direction except east, the best women collegiate sailors in the southeast took to the water at Rollins College on Winter Park, Fla's Lake Virginia to compete to be the top women's boats in SAISA. Twelve teams came from as far as Miami and North Carolina. Racing began at midday, and ended at 5:30 with the teams having finished three races in each division. For the day, USF finished atop the leader board with a narrow lead, followed by JU, Charleston, Eckerd, and NC State.
On Saturday morning, the 12 teams arrived to find a slowly building breeze that gave everyone hope of a good day of racing. Jacksonville opened strong in the first three Division A races where they posted first and second place finishes. This moved the Fins into a lead which they never let go of. USF (4 first place finishes) and Charleston (5 first place) both made strong cases challenging the leader. Florida State and NC State rounded out the top 5 with Eckerd on their heels. SAISA congratulates all of the teams who came to compete - it is a sign of a bright future and healthy conference that the regatta drew twelve women's teams from across the southeast.
