Sailors competing in the inaugural SAISA South Top 6 Invite were greeted with light easterly winds In the morning with a threat of afternoon thunderstorms.
Racing began at 10:15 and 6 races were completed in combined divisions before sending the fleet in for lunch. After waiting out a passing storm, the fleet was back on the water at 2:30 and 4 more races were completed before calling it a day. The winds shifted from easterly to northeasterly late in the day with speeds ranging between 4-7 knots. All races were W4’s with offset and gate. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ.
Thanks go to Ransom Everglades HS for lending 12 420s for the regatta and to the U. Miami sailing team members for running marks and ferrying the boats to the venue. Congratulations to the U.Miami Hurricanes for winning the regatta and to all competitors for a great day of competition.
