Breeze was 10-15 out of the NW. Teams began the day battling shifty, up and down conditions producing tight overall scores across the fleet. Fleets took a lunch break after abandoning race 4A, due to lack of breeze and inversion of fleet.
Teams hit the water after lunch, at which time breeze built up, and stabilized. Race committee, with the counsol of ICSA Rep, Issac Clarke decided to move to a permeant I-Flag after race 5B, to keep things moving.
Both fleets hit the dock just after 1700, after 8 competitive races. RC was notified of 4 protests, but no enemies were made, and no protested were officially filed.
Yale leads after day one.
Sunday gave competitors an incredible race course through the day. Breeze began 8-12 out of the west.
It was decided in coaches meeting that all teams disliked the word "lunch" and were ready to take advantage of the great conditions. RC, along side coaches, decided that teams would complete 4 races, with a quick 15-20 break, then back out to complete 4 more races.
Breeze continued to build with puffs up to 16-18, again, providing fantastic conditions. Current played a role in all legs of the race course.
RC was able to complete 7 of the 8 planned races for the day. Eager sailors pushed the line forcing serval late in the day general recalls, and a late shift delayed starting after 12B.
Racing was tight to the end, with the Top-9 changing every race.
Congrats to Top-9 finishers for qualifying for ACC finals, and to Harvard for a close win over Yale, both of whom, dominated the event clearing themselves of the fleet by nearly 80 points.
Thank you to all coaches for support. Thank you to all United States Merchant Marine Academy Midshipman for giving up their time to run event. The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
