The Hood Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

The 39th Professor Steadman Hood Trophy began with strong winds of NW 10-25. An old fashioned Gold Cup course (triangle, windward, leeward) was used for the first four races in each division. As the wind settled to WNW 5-15, we switched to course 6. A couple very minor breakdowns slowed the rotation slightly as did confusion over the re-written rotation when Olin was a no-show. By afternoon the pace picked up. By sundown the lake went calm. Good wind is expected tomorrow, perhaps a little steadier than today SW shifting SSW 8-15 is forecast. Big thanks to Maddy Simms for scoring both the Hood and the Ross at the same time. PRO: Ken

Sunday, September 25:

Light air with shifts from SW to S became steady SSW at ten knots or full power for Larks. An overcast sky eliminated glare while the air was a warm 70 degrees in advance of late afternoon and evening showers. Another four races per division were completed before 3:00. All the teams were good which led to inconsistent scores since no team could avoid deep races. No breakdowns nor protests today and only one general recall. Many thanks to Ella Hubbard for scoring today and to the rest of the Jumbos in attendance taking care of boats. PRO - Ken

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
