Danmark Trophy

Summary

Saturday, October 1:

Wet, windy and lots of current was the name of the game today! Breeze was NNE 10-18 for most of the day. Four races were sailed in each division before a quick break then six more were sailed with racing ending right around 1700. All courses were W4 and a strong ebb increased throughout the afternoon making the left side of the race course heavily favored upwind. The was only one general recall all day (lots of line sag) and only one individual recall. There were two protests filed resulting in one DSQ and one breakdown awarded. Huge thanks to Bern Noack (Harvard) and Matt Lindblad (MIT) for serving as jury. Also, thanks to Adam Werblow (St. Mary's) for being the ICSA Rep.

Big kudo's to CGA All Fourth Class RC team of Will Spada, Luke Slosar, Sarah Krajewski, Julia Conneely, Bradley Whiteway and Charlie Pohl for keeping things moving all day! Tomorrow's forecast looks a bit sporty!

Sunday, October 2:

The forecast for Sunday was accurate, NE breeze 16-24knots with some puffs up tp 30knots. 420's only with one division on the water at a time. Unfortunately, there were several breakdowns throughout the day that held things up at times. Four more races were sailed in each division using W4 courses with an average course time of approximately just under 17 minutes. Current was still a factor although not as strong as Saturday. Racing wrapped up shortly before the 1500 deadline. Three breakdowns were awarded and one DSQ. Huge thanks to Adam Werblow (St. Mary's College of Maryland) for serving as the ICSA Rep and to several of the coaches for assisting with breakdowns/protests. CGA sailors worked hard all weekend to run the event, work on boats and assist with on the water safety. Coast Guard Academy A-Division of Dan Unangst with crews Jack Farrell and Jonathan Glander won their division with a regatta low of 51 points. Congratulations to the Brown Bears for winning the 2022 Danmark Trophy!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
