The 2022 Carl Van Duane MAISA Singlehanded Championship began with a 5-20 knot NE breeze in the mouth of the Severn River. A few breakdowns during the first set led to a slow start to the day, but racing kept moving on. After a brief rain shower, the wind lightened up for a bit to 8-12, but then gradually increased increased again to 15-20 by the end of the day. A huge thanks to PRO ENS Gray Benson and his team of Midshipmen on Race Committee for running 8 great races and to judges ENS Jack Carminati and ENS JC Hermus for enforcing justice.
Sunday was a sporty day on the Severn River with temperatures in the 50s to low 60s, rain and 15-25 knots of wind out of the NE with plenty of puffs and shifts. We were able to complete the remaining 6 races before 2 PM to finish the event. Congratulations to Leo Boucher on becoming the second 4 time winner of the Carl Van Duyne Trophy!
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
