This morning the competitors at The Ashley River Trophy made the two mile sail from Charleston Community Sailing over to the race area just south of Carolina Yacht Club off the East Battery. Racing started in a decent 5-8 knot northerly that eventually died and shifted hard right throughout the first A Division set. Conditions were very up & down for the first B Division set with some holes on the race course that would bring the entire fleet to a standstill. Breeze in the set varied from 1-6 knots. A more dependable 6+ knot easterly eventually filled in for the final A & B Division sets that allowed for us to get 10 total races in. Of course, a beautiful 8-12 knot sea breeze filled in right as racing ended at 3:30 PM.
Congratulations to Clemson University on the win. College of Charleston & Duke University rounded out the rest of the podium.
Thank you to Robert Barrineau, Clemson University, Gordan Stine & Edwin McAlister who provided support boats that helped transport sailors from Charleston Community Sailing to Carolina Yacht Club in the morning and back after racing. They also helped constantly move marks on the race course in the very dynamic conditions we had today.
The Ashley River Trophy was The Citadel's perpetual intra-club championship held from the team's formation in 1938 up until some point after World War II. We brought back the event last year as a SAISA conference event rather than an intra-club championship and will continue holding the event annually in honor of the original founding members of The Citadel Sailing Team.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
