Unseasonably warm day, but gusty southwesterly winds made for a challenging day of sailing. As we progressed into the afternoon, the gusts increased to the point where multiple boats were capsizing in close succession. Racing was called for the day around 2:30pm after race 8A.
A front pushed through overnight bringing more seasonable fall temperatures, bright sun, and northwesterly winds in the 10-15 range. Absolutely beautiful conditions. We finished the full 12 race slate a bit past 1:15pm. Congratulations to Webb for the convincing victory and thank you to all the visiting teams for sailing with us! Thank you to Port Jefferson YC for the use of their facilities. Also, many thanks to all of the SBU sailors who helped throughout the weekend with on and off the water logistics.
