A tough reality is that our 24th Mrs. Hurst Bowl is the first one with out Mrs. Christina Hurst. The Mrs. Hurst Bowl is an inter-collegiate Women's event held annually on Mascoma Lake in honor of the late Chris Hurst. Mrs. Hurst was a beloved member of the Dartmouth Sailing Community, and wife of Captain William Hurst, who coached the team from 1968 - 1992. Mrs. Hurst passed away at the age of 95 on November 5th, 2020. The Dartmouth Sailing Community remembers her for her unwavering support of the program. Her warm, caring personality and tireless dedication to the team over five plus decades had an impact on many sailors - including those who called DCYC home, and those who were visiting competitors. Mrs. Hurst enjoyed baking and knitting and she loved to share. She made many cakes, brownies, and cookies which often went to the Dartmouth Sailing Team, and were a special highlight of the Mrs. Hurst Bowl each year. This is a tradition we aim to continue as a team. As Captain Hurst always said, we wish her "fair winds and following seas" on her way to rejoin him; our Dartmouth Sailing community will cherish her memory, and will continue hosting this regatta in her honor.
Today was light but sailable, with eight tricky races in breeze barely touching 4 knots from the South. Many thanks to Nate Greason '17 who is giving back to college sailing as our PRO, and to John Brady and the crew of Dartmouth team members on regatta management. Bill Healy from Yale is our NEISA Rep, and helped BC assistant Charlie Welsh (BU '18 and former NEISA Undergrad Pres) hear one protest which resulted in two DSQs. Two more protests will be heard first thing tomorrow morning, many thanks to Mike O'Connor and Emilie Blinderman for stepping up to hear those.
We're all hoping for more breeze tomorrow!
A fantastic day of sailing. Northerly filled early and pumped all day long, allowing for 9 races in each division. Thank you to the coaches who filled in as umpires, including NE Rep Bill Healy, and thanks to everyone for making the trip up to the North Country.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
