The 2021 Faye Bennet started out with very light wind and the fleet was held on shore all morning. The sky cleared up enough for a light southeasterly breeze to fill in and the fleet headed out to Carr Cove, just inside Greenbury Point at 12:45. We were able to get 6 quality races completed in 4-7 knots of breeze. The wind was fairly steady. We had no protests, redress requests or breakdowns.
Sunday started out with much better wind and the fleet headed out to the Chesapeake Bay, just past Greenbury Point. Racing began at 10:00 in a 10-15 knot northerly breeze. the wind decreased throughout the day and shifted right to the NE. The last few races were sailed in 6-12 knots with a half knot of current running against the wind. The variety of conditions allowed for the sailors to utilize a wide array of skill sets and the best all around sailors benefited in the end. Congratulations to Cornell's Lilly Myers for winning the 2021 Faye Bennat MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship and to all the other top finishers who are vying for at large berths at Nationals.
